the Door to Unger

Although it is a sequel, this book also stands alone. It would appeal to a variety of readers, including readers of fantasy and adventure stories. The ending certainly leads the reader to the conclusion that there will be more adventures for Kendra and her associates. This book would be an excellent class novel for individual reading or as a read aloud choice. It would be an excellent addition for personal, class, school and public libraries. Highly Recommended.

In The Box of Whispers, Kendra Kandlestar helped us understand the magic of facing ourselves. Now she’s back—older, wiser and full of spunk—to share with us the incredible power of resisting negativity and being gatekeepers of our own truth.

Author and illustrator Lee Edward Fodi has a lovely way of spinning a funny, entertaining fantasy tale while weaving in important lessons. The Kendra books are a great choice for eight- to 12-year-olds who are ready to explore a rich, wonderful world of the imagination.

This is the second Kendra Kandlestar book, but it definitely stands alone. This is a great adventure, full of excitement, creativity, logic, and lessons about judgment and prejudice. Well written, with interesting characters, and illustrations that made me wish for a box of crayons! I loved every minute of it, and I think you will too. Armchair Interviews says: Lee Fodi does it again with his excellent storytelling and amazing illustrations.

Around every corner, it seems like Kendra is meeting someone different. The characters are
interesting but also sometimes very funny. A lot of kids need to have something funny happening in
books to keep them reading. Funny things happen every few pages in this book. Kendra Kandlestar and the Door to Unger is a surefire hit to attract young readers. This is a second book in a series, but there is no reason why you wouldn't be able to read this one first and then the other one. The door to Unger opens when you open the pages of this book. You will certainly have a trip you
won't soon forget!

The second book in the Kendra Kandlestar Chronicles has all the same virtues as the first: action, humor, mystery, and imagination. As a bonus for returning readers, favorite characters from The Box of Whispers are all present, while Födi's illustrations bring new characters to equally vivid life. However, it's not necessary to have read the first book in the series in order to enjoy this one—all of the relevant context is provided, without bogging down the action. Födi also does a great job of wrapping up this adventure, while hinting at the challenges Kendra will face in book three, The Shard From Greeve. This made me curious to know what was coming next, and I'm sure kids will feel the same way.
